What does the word ‘Reiki’ mean?

Rei-ki (pronounced Ray-Key) most easily translates to ‘Universal Life-Energy.”

Is Reiki Right for me?

Reiki is right for anyone. Reiki is a holistic approach towards healing. Reiki is an ancient Japanese technique that has been quickly growing in Western culture. It is practiced in hospitals and holistic centers across the country. 

What should I expect during a session?

Upon being greeted by Miya, you will be guided to a bright, yet warm inviting space to engage you in the healing process.

During the initial appointment, you will sit with Miya and review the paperwork. You will also have the opportunity to share any additional information that was

not captured on the form.

You will then lie on the massage table, fully clothed. You will be provided with a disposable eye mask and a blanket. Miya will then begin the treatment by placing her hands on or near your body in a series of hand positions. She will begin at your head and work her way down to your feet, ensuring to cover both sides of the body. Each hand position is held for two to three minutes depending on client needs. You might notice certain areas of your body feeling warmer than others as Miya hovers her hands or lightly touches you. You may fall asleep, and would almost certainly feel a sense of calm and relaxation. The entire session lasts between 30-60 minutes.

It is important to keep in mind that whatever brought you in for services on any particular day will not be “cured overnight.” Reiki is not magical; it takes time and commitment to enjoy the long-term benefits. 

Can I participate in Reiki if I already see a doctor or psychologist?

Reiki is a great addition to your medical and psychological services. Reiki energy works harmoniously with all other forms of healing. 

What should I expect after a Reiki treatment?

After treatment, people reported feeling relaxed or re-energized. Allow some time before you get back into full force with your normal activities. Be sure to drink lots of water as Reiki can be detoxifying. You can also add herbal teas to flush toxins out of the body.

How often should I receive Reiki treatments?

Initially, three or four sessions over the first two weeks is ideal. Thereafter, once a week or every two weeks is recommended until your issues are resolved. However, depending on your blockage, Miya will make a personalized recommendation. It is suggested that you try at least four sessions to evaluate the potential benefits of Reiki.
